Hari Nyepi in Bali for 2019:
Begin: 6 am, 7 March 2019
End: 6 am: 8 Mar 2019
Hari Nyepi is a day of Silence, fasting and meditation in Bali where no cars are allowed on the roads, no flights are to take off or land in the airport, everyone to stay at home or tourists to be in the hotel. Hari Nyepi, a Hindhu celebration that marks the Isakawarsa (Saka new year) .
About Hari Nyepi...
It depends on the perspective of people visiting Bali during this festival. For some tourist, Hari Nyepi should be avoided and seen as wasting of time, because one can only stay in the hotel, not allowed to go anywhere. Only allowed to swim at the pool, join a Yoga class inside the hotel, or stay in the room or restaurant. Dinner must be taken early, because after 6pm, after sunset, only minimum lighting allowed inside the hotel.
But for other tourists, this could be a unique experience. Because this observation is one and only one in the world. Enjoy the silence, have a chance to experience how the Balinese people celebrate the new year. Quiet, listen to nature talks, sometimes birds come to your terrace to join in the feeling of silence.
We do have packages for Hari Nyepi. Its festival....
1 day before Nyepi, we have Ogoh Ogoh Festival. Crowds all over Bali with loud instruments and parade, starts at 6pm until 9pm. People will stay awake until dawn and start the Silent Day at 6am.
Then just one day after Nyepi, there is a special market at Kuta Beach, Nusa Dua Beach, Tuban Beach that opens at 7 am, called Majelangu Market. Tourist and locals will visit this market in which they could find anything they need including food, fashion, souvenirs, goods etc. It marks the new year of Isakarwasa.
